You have one observation of machine performance on this ship. If you were to take another cruise on the same ship, you might find the opposite occur — machine hitting during the trip, but not on the last day. As you know, this one observation isn't enough to draw any conclusions about the machines on the ship. Best of luck in and out of the. Cruise Ship Slots Do Cruise Ships Tighten Slots During the Cruise? By Jerry 'Stickman' Jerry: I have gone on several cruises over the past several years. While at sea, I enjoy playing the slot machines as well as blackjack and craps. I believe there is a sinister plan being executed by the ship's management.

Many people will be visiting a casino this summer, whether on a trip to Vegas, on a cruise ship, or just at a local casino during a 'staycation.'

But before you go, you may want to know which games give you the best chance of winning.

So we went behind the scene at two casinos, and spoke with the game managers, to find out which games give you an edge.

Table Games Your Best Bet

Jay Bean, a Caesar's floor manager, agreed to sit down with us and talk about the games with the best odds.

He said many people don't realize that table games have much better odds than slots. They are intimidated by thoughts of card sharks taking their money, with images of an intense Texas Hold 'Em tournament in their minds, and so they stick with the safe games: the slots.

But they are doing themselves a disservice, he said.

Bean's advice? After you've spent some time on the slot machines, move on to the Blackjack table, and start by just observing.

1. Blackjack

Blackjack has the best odds of winning, with a house edge of just 1 percent in most casinos, Bean said.

Plus, you are playing against only the dealer, not hooded poker champions.

'Blackjack is one of our easiest games to play,' Bean said. 'You're just looking for a number that beats the dealer's number without going over 21.'

If you're a novice, Bean said to sit down during a less busy time, such as the afternoon, and the dealer will walk you through the game.

But the same is not true with poker: You should practice the game with your friends first, at home, Bean said, until you are comfortable with it. Bean said novices are best off passing on the poker tables, where yes, the competition can be tough.

You can find out more information about the game of blackjack at the following link:

2. Craps

So from the Blackjack table, he suggests moving on to the dice game Craps, the game with the second best odds, also nearly 50-50.

The Craps table can be a bit intimidating for the beginner with all the boxes on the table, Bean admitted. But it's really not tough, and it has one of your best chances of winning. In the end, all you are really doing is betting on a dice roll.

3. Roulette

Bean said your next stop should be the Roulette wheel. It's simple, and pays fairly well.

'So you bet on your favorite numbers,' Bean said. 'The dealer spins, and if your number comes in you win.'

If you stick to betting on just Reds or Blacks, you have nearly a 50-50 chance of walking away a winner. If it lands on red when you choose red, you will double your bet, Bean explained.

While it may seem you have an even chance of winning by simply choosing a color, there is one catch that gives the house its edge: the extra green 0 and 00 position on the wheel. It's on all American roulette wheels.

Or, if you feel lucky, play just one number. It's hard to win, but if you do it pays out 36 to 1.

Worst Odds

Your worst odds? The casinos, understandably, did not want to talk about games with poor odds.

So we turned to Forbes Magazine, which in a report about Best Bets at the Casino, said two popular games -- the Wheel of Fortune and the ever-popular slot machines -- have the lowest odds of winning, with a house edge of 10 percent or more.

The Experts Agree

Professor of Analytics Michael Magazine has crunched the numbers, and agreed that blackjack is the best way to go home with money in your pockets. He said if you take a little time to learn the game, you have the best odds of winning.

'You are somewhere between 44 percent to 48 percent in every single hand of winning,' he said, noting that no other casino game gives you odds that good.

But Magazine cautioned that he's not promoting gambling, because he said even games with the best odds still favor the house.

Slots

'Play it long enough and you will lose. In the long term the house doesn't lose,' Magazine said.

If You Love The Slots..

Finally, if you really enjoy playing the slots, here is some good information to know, from state casino reports we examined.

With slots, the more money you put in per bet, the higher your chance of winning. Skyui show armor slots sets. If you put the max in a penny machine, which is usually around 50 cents, you have much better odds than if you put in 2 cents.

In addition, penny slots have the lowest odds, with $1 and $5 slots paying much better.

Always gamble responsibly, and don't waste your money.

Cruise ship casinos are the worst. I use to work as a bartender on a ship and can tell you that they really are the tightest machine you'll ever play. The reason being not jusf because they can get away with it but because there is no competition at sea and very little to do on a ship that's as exciting as the casino. Don't play at cruise casinos.

I haven't been on many cruise's the ones I have been on had some good IGT VP, even a nice VP progressive, including a bunch of bonus banking slots. I can't know if chips had been tampered with or not but I won.

Consider yourself lucky. It would be wise to quit while ahead and not tempt cruise casino fate.

Yeah, apart from having a friendly roll on the craps table or playing low stakes blackjack for fun, I wouldn't get into playing the slots on cruise ships..NEVER, not even for a little fun and entertainment. You will get slaughtered if you play through your 'beginner variance'.

Having said that due to the relatively unschooled and inexperienced pit staff on cruise ships, I don't hesitate to believe that you can get away with moving your money while playing blackjack. The rules are not too horrible either if memory serves. No surrender, stand on S17, 6 decks, DAS, Split Aces once only. If I remember accurately, the games I ran was running at about a about 0.42%. The problem is that the minimums are quite often low but you can still have aa very decent spread on $5 to $500 tables. If you play at the $25-$1000 tables you will attract more attention.

Someone on the forums told me that he and his wife hole carded on their honeymoon and there was no heat. I won't say who, but hopefully there are some more stories.
I'm going on a Princess cruise next month, so I'll definitely check out the blackjack and at least look at the VP.

I wonder if NCL's casinos are better than others since they have a program with Caesars (though they might be worse since they are CZR).

When I worked on Celebrity they most assuredly had 3,4,5 x odds no doubt, in fact I was the one who suggested they change from double odds to shore up more high limit action.
It promtly worked with the next cruise having two guys with $50k front money come on board.

I very much doubt casino dealers or floor people care about counters or hole carders...they are there to have fun. You are more likely to get caught by a fellow guest who wants to be a whistleblower than a sharp employee....

I will say that NCL's casinos are excellent, IMO, and offer Vegas odds on most of the table games. I am less sure about the slots/VP payoffs, but they do have good numbers of both. Their dealers and pit crew are pretty good at their jobs and very pleasant. I am not an AP, so I'm not going to speculate about opportunities; I could be wrong in either direction.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I wouldn't get into playing the slots on cruise ships..NEVER, not even for a little fun and entertainment.

I never say never when it comes to gambling and AP. People say certain table games can't be beaten, they just have no clue. I take things on a case by case basis. I also don't believe half the people that claim they can beat certain games with betting systems, I know dam well they are full of crap. IE Varmenti, Gplayer, Tounement king to name a few
What you said about cruises, I hear this often about reel slot machines and even from so called experts(especially in the past). You should never say NEVER. You could miss a great opportunity.
IE online. Many people including AP's blasted others for playing online casinos and they stayed away. Me Being Leary and actually believing to a few casino Blacklist sites, cost me enough as it is. Luckily I took the leap of faith on a few blacklisted sites and was generously rewarded. A few others made in the mid hundreds of thousands without much risk. Sure they got stiffed or slow paid a few times, It was worth the risk for them.
A Few guys did do well on some cruise ships and it had nothing to do with positive variance.
